About the Executive Summaries
IGLYO and the Council of Europe are launching the executive summaries of an upcoming Inclusive Education Toolkit, developed within the framework of the EU and Council of Europe joint project “Combating Anti-LGBTIQ Violence and Hate Speech, and Strengthening Awareness and Fact-based Narratives about LGBTIQ People.”
The toolkit aims to support safer and more inclusive educational environments for all learners. It responds to the growing need for rights-based guidance on addressing discrimination, bullying, and anti-rights discourse affecting LGBTQI learners and communities in education settings across Europe.
The toolkit brings together three complementary resources designed to support policymakers, education professionals, schools, civil society organisations and other stakeholders working on inclusive education:
Tool 1: Policy Guidance on Addressing SOGIESC-based Bullying in Schools
This tool provides an overview of policy measures and whole-school approaches to prevent and respond to bullying based on sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, and sex characteristics (SOGIESC).
Tool 2: Countering Anti-Rights Discourse in Education
This tool provides guidance on understanding and responding to anti-rights and anti-gender narratives targeting inclusive education, with a focus on evidence-based, rights-centred and strategic approaches.
Tool 3: Framework for a Training Module on SOGIESC for Educators
This tool provides a framework to support the development of educator training on SOGIESC inclusion, inclusive school climates, safeguarding and equality in education.
Developed in consultation with experts, educators, policymakers, and civil society representatives across Europe, the toolkit seeks to strengthen inclusive education practices and support learning environments where all young people can feel safe and respected and are able to fully participate.
