Call for Methodologies and Good Practices on Child Participation for the European Child Participation Fair - Brussels, 17–18 November 2025
IGLYO is a proud partner of ICPN - Inclusive Child Participation Networks, a joint initiative by Save the Children and SOS Children's Villages, dedicated to strengthening child participation. ICPN brings together partners in 11 countries to promote meaningful and inclusive child participation in decision-making processes both at national and EU-level.
As part of the project, we are pleased to invite practitioners, organisations, researchers, and networks from across Europe to submit methodologies, examples of practice, or academic research for presentation at the first European Child Participation Fair, taking place in Brussels on 17-18 November 2025.
This in-person event will bring together child participation professionals and advocates to share, exchange, and discuss approaches to child participation in decision-making processes. The Fair is co-designed by children and practitioners and aims to encourage learning and connection across countries and sectors.
What You Can Submit
You are invited to propose one or more of the following:
- Workshop: An interactive session showcasing a methodology or practice.
- Seminar: A presentation or panel discussion on a specific theme or approach
In addition, the Fair will include an exhibition space where selected participants may display materials and engage informally with attendees.
Submission Guidelines
Submissions should be no longer than 800 words and must include:
- Title and short description of the methodology, example, or research (max 400 words)
- Type of session proposed (workshop, seminar or other)
- Name(s) and role(s) of the presenter(s), including whether children will be involved Country or countries where the work has been implemented
- A brief explanation of how the work promotes inclusion and non-discrimination (max 200 words)
- Links to relevant materials (e.g. methodology guides, videos, publications), if available
Who can submit?
Organisations, networks and practitionars based in Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Kosovo, Latvia, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Portugal, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden and Ukraine. Members of the ICPN consortium cannot submit methods in this call, but have a different process.
Evaluation process
Submissions will be reviewed by a selection committee composed of representatives from Save the Children and SOS Children's Villages International, with the input from Iglyo, ERGO Network and Plan International.
The committee will assess submissions based on:
- Innovation in methodology or approach
- Inclusivity, with a focus on non-discrimination and meaningful child participation
- Geographic diversity across Europe
- Variety in types of child participation represented
Participation and Support
Selected applicants will be invited to Brussels, with travel and accommodation covered for one participant per selected project. If children are presenting travel and accommodation will be covered for two participants per selected project, and in exceptional cases the Committee can decide to cover costs for three participants. Presentations must be suitable for an in-person format.
Translation services will be available to support participation in multiple languages, including child-friendly formats.
Selected methodologies and practices will be:
- Included in the program
- Showcased at the Fair
- Included in the proceedings and shared via the new European Child Participation
- Competence Centre
- Contributing to advancing child participation across Europe
