55 times congratulations!
Another year over, another 55 graduates of our Global Online Activist Academy! This IGLYO programme is designed for youth activists between the ages of 18 and 30 at the beginning of their activist careers who are passionate about activism, LGBTQI rights, learning and collaborating with other LGBTQI activists from round the globe. The goal is to jumpstart younger activists into skill-demanding and leadership roles within LGBTQI organisations.
Over the course of two weeks, participants took part in three expert-facilitated workshops on Digital Communications & Graphic Designs, Intersex Rights, and Digital Security for LGBTQI Activists. After that, they attempted two challenges to apply the skills they learned, while receiving feedback from the official Activist Academy judges.
Once again, we were a truly international group with 55 worldwide participants from Brazil to Botswana, Kenya to Côte d’Ivoire, to name a few. Together, we explored what it means to be intersex, brushed up on public speaking skills, and fortified our digital activism with communications and safety trainings.
Congratulations to all 20 teams who made it to the finish line, with a special shout out to the 3 winning teams TransMission, Peer Deer and Sultan of Activism for each winning the €500 cash prize! And a big thank you to our amazing experts for their workshops and our dedicated team members for making the Academy happen.
The Global Online Activist Academy was organised by IGLYO and funded by the Dutch Ministry of Education Culture & Science and the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) programme of the European Union.
