About

Trans Autonomija

Founded in 2021, Trans Autonomija is the first trans-led trans rights and mutual assistance organisation in Lithuania. Their core principles are: self-determination, bodily autonomy, dignity, solidarity, depathologisation.

Their activities are focused on community building and mutual assistance, public awareness on transgender issues and LGBQIA+ human rights, advocacy, and monitoring of the human rights situation of trans people in Lithuania.

Their mission

Trans Autonomija is advocating for a world where their core values are respected:

- Self-determination: a world where everyone has the right to define their own identity and freely make decisions related to their lives.

- Bodily autonomy: a world where our bodies belong to ourselves, everyone has the right to make decisions concerning their own bodies, and where neither the State, nor doctors, nor other people have control or ownership over our bodies.

- Dignity: a world where no one has to beg for their humanity, human rights, or prove their right to exist.

- Solidarity: a world where the suffering of most marginalised people is addressed and everyone is included in the vision for a better future and a better life for all.

- Depathologisation: a world where our trans identities are not pathologised and seen as something to be ‘treated’ or an excuse for control or restrictions.
