About
Iniciatíva Inakosť is a Slovak civil society organisation that has worked for the human rights of LGBTI+ people since 2006. Slovakia ranks among the EU countries with the weakest legal protection of LGBTI+ people. Our work rests on two pillars. Through advocacy, strategic litigation, research and public campaigns, we push for equal rights, including legal recognition of same-sex couples and legal gender recognition for trans people. Through community work, we offer safe space and professional support. In 2025 we opened the Community and Integration Centre In in Bratislava, home to inPoradňa, our counselling service offering legal, psychological and social support. People aged 14–30 turn to inPoradňa most often, and in 2025 we started a support group for queer youth. We also organise cultural events such as the Slovak Queer Film Festival (FFi) and train employers on creating inclusive workplaces.
