ChillOUT's mission is to provide a safe supportive community where LGBTI+ young people are accepted and appreciated for who they are and encouraged to take PRIDE in themselves.
Learning and awareness of LBGTI+ experiences and issues is created and addressed through activities and where young people have a say and take charge of running their own affairs.
ChillOUT works through a wide range of youth work methods generating personal development through to critical social education. Their work happens through developmental group work where young people have opportunities and are empowered to develop their own leadership and teamwork skills.
Young people engage in self-directed and peer-led personal development, collective action on issues, and local and National policy development related to LGBTI+ issues and experiences. Young people also work on projects to raise awareness of what works and what needs to be changed to improve young LGBTI+ people’s lives.
By communicating experiences from young people’s point of view, ChillOUT aims to create awareness of the issues, to inspire behaviour change, and to improve the focus on better outcomes for young LGBTI+ people.
